I was diagnosed with advanced, aggressive (Stage 3 Gleason 9) Prostate Cancer January 2024 - my treatment pathway included having a full prostatectomy, which I had early March 24.
During my first consultation with my Consultant surgeon post op, he advised me that due to the stage and grade of the cancer, there was a 20% chance of it returning in year 1, and to minimise the risk, I needed to “Live like a Monk” (Avoid alcohol, eat clean - as in, follow the guidelines for good heart health). Whilst appreciated, I felt I needed more detail, specifically for cancer, and in particular, my type of cancer.
Numerous online searches for dietary advice left me feeling anxious and confused - there is so much conflicting advice online.
I then decided to search for a Dietitian who specialises in cancer patients. There are not many, and of those I researched, it was Meredy who stood out for me - I booked an initial online consultation.
Meredy is amazing! So caring, so supportive, and clearly very experienced and knowledgable - she gave me clarity as to the best way forward on prostate cancer nutrition, which helped enormously in reducing the stress and anxiety I was going through.
In each of our sessions (I had 5 in total) I learnt so much - After a few months of following Meredy’s advice, focusing in particular on gut health and reducing inflammation, I felt so much better / healthier than I had for many years.
One year on, my PSA results remain undetectable - the best possible result.
I feel very lucky to have found Meredy, and to have had the benefit of her invaluable help and advice on this journey - Meredy - Sincere thanks from both me and my family.
